AND THE RESULTS ARE IN!
According to US Breast Cancer Statistics, about 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer in their lifetime. An estimated 268,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 62,930 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.
That's why it was important to our H.O.G. Chapter to continue on the annual breast cancer ride that had been hosted by the Watertown Chrome Divas in years past. Other than a change to the ride's name, everything else remained the same: held on the fourth Saturday of August, leaving from FX Caprara Harley-Davidson, and ending at Spook Hill Bar & Grill.
Final Tally for our HOGs for Hooters Ride = $3,235!! That was the amount WE raised with all the donations, auctions, registrations and sales, minus all the expenses.
Of that $2,650 went to the St. Lawrence Health Initiative Cancer Services Program so that they can continue to work to provide breast, cervical and colo-rectal cancer screening, diagnostic and case management services for uninsured and under-insured people residing in the St Lawrence County, Jefferson, Lewis and Oswego Counties.
The remaining $585 went to the Gouverneur Breast Cancer Fund, which goes to "direct financial support to someone who is facing a diagnosis of breast cancer and needs help during this challenging time. You can have peace of mind that your donations will reach a friend, colleague, loved one or neighbor. We serve the Quad-County area of St. Lawrence, Jefferson, Lewis, and Franklin Counties, New York."
Thank you again to everyone who contributed to make this such a success!!
